Zagreb Film gives us another satire on day-to-day life. Zlatko Grgić's "Ðavolja posla" ("The Devil's Work" in English) depicts a man who takes inspiration from a book about diabolical acts to exact revenge on the people making his life a living hell (pun not intended)...but things change when he comes upon a woman.

One of the things that these cartoons from the Eastern Bloc show is that cartoons don't need a lot of resources to be good; they only need the talent of the people making them. The Yugoslavian cartoons that I've seen are a lot more interesting than these animated features starring the celebrities of the moment. After all, animation is simply another form of filmmaking, and it's one of the best ways to hold society's shortcomings up to ridicule. Worth seeing.
