With Dancing
boblipton21 March 2024
Pat Rooney Jr. And Herman Timberg Jr. Want to get engaged, but through the sort of mix-up that happens in short comedy, Timberg winds up engaged to both girls and eating roast beef and tomato soup in two apartments in the same building.

It's moderately well done under the direction of longtime comedy pro William Watson. The two fellows also do some eccentric dancing, and one of the girls plays the piano and sings. It's slightly underwritten for two reels, but I suppose the folks at Educational thought the boys had enough personality to carry the picture. Timberg later had a supporting actor career under the name of Tim Herbert.

Warning: Spoilers
Be careful of the family you choose to marry into. You may be stuck with them. This two reel comedy short stars Pat Rooney Jr. And Tim Herbert, pals running back and forth from one dinner to another, in a plot that barely makes a lick of sense. Rooney dances a bit, kisses up to the parents, and is just barely only moderately amusing.

Who's involved with who, why they're being so goofy and the outcome of all of this ("corn beef and cabbage!") is just a head scratcher. Herbert's busy being engaged to two girls at once, which sets the plot in motion. The potential in-laws too are ridiculously obnoxious, complete cartoon characters. Obviously poor writing is the culprit here.
