Surreal pie-making in Saskatchewan

"Blueberry" is a Black & White short film in the surrealistic tradition of "Twin Peaks" and "Mulholland Drive". It's quirky and original, and a little tough to follow, with off-beat performances from lead actor Oana Toma (whom I went to high school with) and the supporting cast. I've seen it a few times and I'm still not completely sure what the plot's all about, but it's an interesting journey. The moody, disturbing background music helps to establish the atmosphere. The audience is left unsettled by both the music and the visual imagery, with a mixture of longing, nostalgia, dread, heartache and confusion.

Observant Regina residents will also recognize some of the locations used in the film.
