A sport journalist starts to work for a women magazine... ayeayeaye

Rumeurs is an amazing fresh comedy.

Benoit is a sport journalist, quite moody with a bad character. He loose his job in a newspaper and starts to write in Rumeurs, a monthly women magazine. Benoit will meet Esther, a nervous good-hearted perfect-freak ( love-hate relationship with really good moment), Helene a party animal, best pal of Esther, fashion victim with as much caractere then Benoit, and the indescriptible Mme Lauzon, the editor of Rumeurs. There is Frank the gay beauty editor and his fancy cat, the Casanova photographer, Benoit's crazy family and hyperactive son, his best pal, Pierre-Paul and his mid life-crisis...........

You have to watch it as Rumeurs is all always the text, really really good writer, Isabelle Langlois. It is funny, fresh, thoughtful. It is so nice to see such a TV show!

They are actually doing it in English, it will be based in Toronto with new cast. Dunno if it will be as good as the french an original, but the french version is definitely worth it. It is brilliantly written, good actor ( James Hydman is often in plays, really good actor) you laugh, you worry for the characters.

Well, find a way to see it!

Absolutely brilliant!

This show is beyond praise. Although i'm a french speaking quebecer, I stay away from french language sitcoms, which are often pretty lame. Rumeurs is sooooooooo much an exception to this rule. I missed the fisrt season on the air but I caught one episode on VHS and since then i'm hooked.

The casting is a cross section of the best Quebec actors, the writing is witty, the direction is superb - in short, this is a little gem. For the same reasons, this show would translate very badly... sorry folks, this is not the next Seinfeld.

I got the show on DVD and it sits proudly between my Buffy and my NYPD sets :-)

Great sitcom...

Rumeurs is a great sitcom shown here in Quebec on French CBC.

Benoit is a sportswriter who finds himself out of a job and becomes co-editor of the magazine "Rumeurs" with Esther, a writer who lies her way through her interview to land the job as co-editor as well. They meet during the first episode and hate each other right off the bat. This show sometimes reminds me of Seinfeld, sometimes of Moonlighting and sometimes its so original that I can't even describe it.

The only downside I can see is that for most people reading this, it would be unavailable unless you get the dvds, which are only in French, by the way.
