The best Hungarian movie of 2004
Czes23 January 2005
Tamara was undoubtedly the best Hungarian movie in the year 2004. Szabolcs Hajdu's original directing, and the beautiful, colorful photography makes it definitely worth watching. The story is about a couple (Bori and Demeter) living in the countryside alone, when Demeter's brother arrives with a strange girl, Tamara, whose arrival totally destroys the peaceful life of the couple. Szabolcs Hajdu is one of Hungary's most original directors nowadays, because of his unique ways of storytelling. His movies (in especial Tamara) aren't so sad and hard-watching ones, like the average new Hungarian films. The painted animals (they comments the events happening in the farm in a non-existing language, what's subtitled) the strange, separated world, the humorous story and original characters makes the film easy to understand and love. I also recommend the director's previous movie, Macerás ügyek.
