good for a few hours of Saturday resting
moonchildiva11 March 2006
I disagree completely with the other commenter, Holly's accent is just as good as those considered such great acting by Meryl Streep (which I do not, by the way.) I did not find it annoying NOR distracting (and yet I DO find Streep's awful accents BOTH) -- I've seen this movie twice and enjoyed it both times. It's a good story, the acting is well done and MAN that music by Marty Stuart and Wynonna is superb... that music should be on a CD for purchase. I recommend this movie for AFTER you've done some Saturday chores and just want to relax on the couch. I mean, what fun!! A woman who is "wronged" ha-ha finds her way into not only solving a murder but into new employment. It's rather encouraging, if you think about it. I'm not saying this is a classic film or anything but I am saying that if there's going to be a new kinda classic, such as LIFETIME classic, then this one qualifies!

Erin Brockovich for Rednecks?
punchbear17 August 2005
I know, that's just provocative. But that's essentially what the film is. Instead of polluting big-time corporations, you have good-time boys cheating on their wives, bucking and circumventing the system of marriage and decency.

Nevertheless, the film provides some diverting enough entertainment in an odd I know it's made for TV but I can't quite look away because it might get entertainingly worse before it gets better kind of way.

The good Lord doth love a trier and a compound sentence. I liked the manner in which Lauren Holly chose to play the main character, half serious, half giggly investigative novice. And the fact that the film was made in Belgium was another interesting factor for me.

I enjoyed it.

Finding a Song Title
Jazzie-too5 January 2011
I was reading these reviews--....saw Acalissie's comment and hope I can help. Was not able to send you a message directly, so trying this. I spent over 2 years trying to find the name of a song or it's singer. I even heard the song while in Rio, Brazil, on an International Music radio station. I searched and searched....looking through lyric searches and finally found a real lyric search engine. I'm trying to find it for you. All I had to do was put in about 4 or 5 words of the song and then some choices can up and "whaala" I found my song and artist. "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. This one worked for me today:

www.getlyrics.com (click on Lyrics; enter phrase of song; click go; then choose (to the right)"Within Lyrics Text" and click go.......that should bring up the results you want.

not sure about the following:

www.zworks.com/lyrics.html And I'm not sure where I found mine anymore. Thought I had it book-marked. But try the above. Goood luck!!

Great Fun!
jimmullinaux13 September 2011
Since I've retired, I've started watching these Lifetime and Hallmark movies along with my wife. To my surprise, many of them are pretty good, especially this one. To me, the acting and production values were all perfectly acceptable and believable. In this story, revenge and justice are the primary motivations. I couldn't help but applaud the heroine's success in overcoming her cheating husband's boorish ways. It was fun watching him squirm on the witness stand. It was fun watching her knee-jerk reaction to the private eye who was also cheating her. It was fun watching her squirm in the bushes as she spied on her husband at the golf course. It was fun watching her shoot holes in her husband's luggage. And when her husband fakes a heart attack, it was fun watching her tell him that he had better go ahead and die, because he would be "stiff and stinking" before she ever called an ambulance. Regarding Lauren Holly's accent, it was more country than anything else, and it suited the character perfectly. All in all, this movie was fun and I enjoyed it. My wife and I think this would make a great TV series.

BethHughes6 July 2006
I am watching this movie right now... but i'm confused... only because (oh, i am a lifetime fanatic, but a realist too..especially at that time of the month which is right now ;0) -- -- -- does this particular movie remind anyone of the other movie where the 'girl' **gets** her husband???? i can't remember but it was Canadian. i loved it because the husband was a cop and didn't think his wife was worth anything but she DEFINITELY proved him wrong. ANYONE? sorry, but i love lifetime and these movies.........we women CAN overcome!! OK ten lines of text --- ready? set? GO? ally ally in free? OK -- run out so here i go. gosh i am ordered to give ten lines of text but not gibberish. so,........ anyone see this movie? anyone think it's copying the canandian one? let me hear you!!! we are women hear us roar!

Music from this movie
acalissie1 January 2011
Who knows who sings or what the name of the song is for the song midway through the movie that goes something like "I've been lonely to long"? I cant seem to find the song or information on it anywhere. Now when it comes to the movie itself its your normal lifetime style movie that can draw you attention for the two hours its on. You can predict whats going to happen most of the way through but its definitely worth a quick watch if you got spare time on your hands. The lead actress gives a quality role as she has in several of her other movies and keeps you entertained with some of the phrases she comes up with during the length of the movie

Not the Worst Lifetime Movie I've seen....
SammieM7 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
While this wasn't the worst I've seen, it wasn't exactly a great piece of film either. Like most movies shown on Lifetime it was predictable and not very thought provoking but what else do you really expect. My biggest complaint really other than the wrap up being a little TOO neat in both cases, especially since they end quickly in the last few minutes, is the music. I am a music lover and performer and have been my whole life, but I felt the music was a bit much during most of the movie. I'm not saying it's bad music, cause it's not. Just that parts were a little TOO out of place for the scenes and sort of overtook the moments.

Guilty Pleasure
catbob-cg27 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
A real guilty pleasure. I Love this movie, and I just watched it again on LMN. I've watched it several times because it is so much fun to watch. And despite what anyone else says, Lauren Holly is great in the part of the main character - sassy, funny and smart.

****Spoilers**** Lauren Holly is housewife with a famous husband that is cheating on her. At first, she just has a suspicion, so she hires a private detective that messes her over as well. In desperation, egged on by her lawyer, she starts doing her own investigation and finds she has a knack for it. It is a joy to watch as she becomes more inventive and bold in tracking down evidence that her husband is not only cheating, but also sheltering money in his girlfriend's name. In the end, she starts work for her lawyer as a private detective on other cases of his. The movie is based on the story of Janice "J.D." Holt, a private detective.

Some viewers may not appreciate how true this is and her accent was right on. I thought she was from Texas.

Warning: Spoilers
The good 'ol boy network (I hate this phrase), is just that. The lawyers, the P.I.'s stick together like glue. Thank goodness now days the younger children (men and women) that grew up watching their mother have to scrimp and save and generally go through hell, they have a lot more sympathy for the women and children. Because of the "no-fault" divorce laws, at least they have a chance. I had a best friend go through this. It was the saddest thing I had ever seen. This friend had a wonderful, nice, decent husband or so we thought. One day, after nearly thirteen years of marriage, and three very young children, he told her he did not love her anymore and walked out. She supposedly had THE best lawyer money could buy. Her husband had been having an affair with a co-worker that he denied even after the divorce and his marrying the "other woman". As she drove off to work crying, her youngest child of 4yrs. was left on the porch crying and balled up in a fetal position. She was extremely intelligent but had no skills which was usually the case back then.

Nice...
sacrificialclam17 May 2004
Warning: Spoilers
It's nice to see a light hearted movie made about a husband cheating. Lauren Holly plays Jodie Colter a housewife with a horrible southern accent out for information on her cheating husband after the PI she hired cheats her! Along her way, she makes friends with her lawyer and another woman who's husband did the same thing. When her friend winds up dead, Jodie must find out information on her husband as well as the why her friend died. Jodie uses her own smarts to find out information about her husband without him knowing. She goes to lengths to contact the husband's new girlfriend and pretends to be her friend all the while gathering information to use against him in court. When her court day happens, it was nice to see the woman win out in court. Watching her husband squirm on the stand provided laughs when confronted with the evidence against him.

This was a cute movie, aside from the horrible southern accents on the show.

Just Plain Fun
ForVirg3 January 2012
Especially for a made-for-TV movie, this one is just fun to watch. Lauren Holly in particular makes this so enjoyable. You just have to love her character! And I do agree with those that note that her accent is really good -- as close to authentic as I've heard in most movies. In fact, southern accents are my pet peeve -- they are routinely done so astonishingly badly. It grates on me so badly that there are movies I know would probably have been OK except that the bad accents were too distracting and irritating. But Holly does great, and as a result of the thick accent, she nails this character spot on! No, it's not some amazing film due for classic libraries. But it IS much better than the vast majority of made-for-TV movies. The dialogue is believable, and even the over-the-top outfits make sense in context(the first time I saw it I walked in part-way through and saw one of the "undercover" outfits and burst into giggles thinking to myself, yeah, undercover in being just bizarre enough to work in New Orleans!). Definitely worth a couple of hours.

Caught in the Act-Catch It. ***
edwagreen17 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Thanks to our improved technological advances, this picture was able to be made. It does give us a fine performance by Lauren Holly, equipped with a genuine southern accent, as a housewife who begins to suspect that her husband is being unfaithful to her.

Along the way, she finds another woman with the same problem and befriends her. The film shows how Holly takes advantage of the new technology to get the upper hand on her husband.

When tragedy strikes, Holly shows that she is ambitious and shall do anything at any cost to achieve justice. This is a fine liberation movie for women. There again is corruption at every level as evidenced by the private investigator. Nonetheless, that led Holly to a new life with a new career.
