The interest is not allowed to lag anywhere

This two-reel film tells a graphic story of warfare. The leading characters are a mother and son. Dick proves a coward in his first battle and runs to his nearby home. The mother, to save him, shoots herself in the arm and pretends the house was attacked by guerrillas. Dick is later shot accidentally by his own father during an engagement. The fighting is sharp and spirited and the interest is not allowed to lag anywhere in this double number. - The Moving Picture World, June 7, 1913
