Sunday teatime serial when I was 10/11

I am surprised that nobody else has reviewed this serial.

I hardly remember anything about this except I loved it and that it was set during WW2 in Poland.

My parents were British veterans of WW2 and had great sympathy for the awful experiences the Polish people suffered in world war 2.

We are Scottish and there were lots of Poles living here after the war, people that didn't fancy living under a Russian/Stalinist government.

This serial was one of a British tradition of Sunday evening series designed for family viewing.

This serial seems to be based on a well known novel for children by a well known author but I never read any of his stuff.

I wonder if I saw this series today would I still like it or would it look very old fashioned?

As I say this was part of a number of Sunday evening serials, the best known of which is surely The Last Of The Mohicans which starred Philip Madoc.

Come on BBC let us see some of these and make us feel old.
