OMG! Like Left Behind, but worse.
Eric_M_Welsh2 May 2007
Deserves a zero, terrible acting, terrible plot line, no conclusion. They took the left behind books (sort of) hacked out the good parts, replaced the actors with people who have never been in anything (except like 75% of them were in Walker: Texas Ranger at one point or another) and then gave them a cheesy script and told them to over react to situations as much as possible. Also, i doubt that there is a neutral zone in heaven, so whoever wrote the movie watched way to much star trek and didn't ever read the Bible. The movie was short... Possibly enough grounds for 1 star. One of the angel dudes sounded like Elvis... I don't know if thats a + or a - for the movie...

An awful, pro-Christian, anti-everything else, propaganda film.
mattgreene883 January 2006
The film depicts 4 people, two Christian teens, a convicted murderer, and Jewish Nobel peace-prize winner, in the after life. Their fates are being decided by a demon and two angels, attempting to figure out where they should go; to heaven or hell. While the murderer is quickly forgiven by the angels for praying to Jesus his night on death row, he is not so quick to forgive the Nobel prize winning Jew. The Jew is forced to conform to Christian beliefs to gain access to heaven, and is mocked when he tells the demon he doesn't believe in hell. Its production studio describes it as a hard-hitting drama, while in reality it is unrealistic, close-minded garbage.

An appalling film
doug1963-116 June 2008
This is an appalling, horrendous film. It is extremely unchristian. But it might have appealed to Cotton Mather. A rapist/murderer gains entry into heaven because he bawls the night before his execution. Conversely, a man who has done all he can for humanity is destined for hell because his beliefs do not parallel those of the filmmakers. The most unchristian scene shows a teen girl, one of the rapist/murderer's victims, being tortured in hell. I cannot believe such narrow-minded anti-Christian doctrine is propagated in Final Exit and sold as "christian." The acting is atrocious. The direction pathetic. It is micro-budget, intolerant trash.

Wow!

Warning: Spoilers
Stop me if you've heard this on before. A Nobel Peace Prize winner, a convicted murderer and two professing Christian teenagers meet St. Peter at the Pearly Gates and, well, make a movie. Final Exit is an "evangelistic drama will confront your viewers with life's most important choices: Jesus or Satan? Heaven or Hell?"

Oh man, yeah. This is why I watch movies.

As a kid, I repeatedly encounter Jack Chick tracts that, if anything, pushed me away from the path that Mr. Chick wanted me on. This Was Your Life is a really good overall view of the world of Chick: a man has led an ordinary life full of sin, wasted what God gave him and is thrown into Hell and he'll never get out. Variations on this theme appear, telling us that even the clergy - especially Catholics - can still go to Hell. Reading so many of these so often as a kid led to the man that I am today.

In case you haven't been amazed by what the Christian side of the world endorses these days, this movie will set you straight. Of course, the serial killer will go to Heaven because he made a very specific prayer the night before he was executed and he would have never found Heaven without the death penalty. The Nobel prize winner did amazing, wonderful, astounding things in his life and ended war and saved lives, but he was selfish and did it all for himself and not God, so he's going to burn.

And then the movie reminds you that even though this man stopped some wars, there will still be more wars. Also, one of the serial killer's victims is innocent, but never found God, so they show her being removed from Hell for just a moment before pushing her back in.

Writer/director Danny Carrales has made a ton of movies like this, moving up from SOV quality to actual films. His latest one, 2018's Beyond the Darkness - and you just know that I love that he used the name of a Joe D'Amato movie - has lighsaber-looking things on the cover, which means I need to track it down and do a full deep dive. And oh yeah, Carrales is also a professor at Jerry Falwell's Liberty University.

Some people ask me, "How did our country get like this?" We always were. It just used to be tracts, SOV videos and the 700 Club wasn't watched by everyone and shared like social media. It's someone's POV, no matter how much you disagree with it. And you know, no matter what you do, you're going to Hell.

Heaven or Hell?
karenkkremes23 January 2013
Low budget production, but not so without quality, Final Exit works the theme of Heaven and Hell of a way intelligent and reflective.

The lives of four people on earth ends: Dr. Cap (James Grant), winner of a Nobel Peace Prize; Daryl (Larry Roop), a convicted rapist to death, Melanie (Meagan Mangum), a young Christian and Jeremy (Aaron Priest), a Christian boy, all them are taken to the Final Judgment.

Intriguing and revealing, Final Exit shows the eternal destiny of all people after death from the perspectives of its four protagonists. With unique and different stories, but they are at a given moment in the characters' lives, the film explores the character and most secret interests of the people and shows that the eternal destiny will be a surprise to the vast majority of society.

Using simple effects, but that works well, Final Exit makes use of black and white to indicate a character's past, color inversion during the transition from the present to memory and even rubber masks. However, this does not devalue or disparage his exceptional storyline, showing that a good story outweighs any limitation of film.

Edifying, Final Exit reminds us about the biblical verse of not judging others and shows how Eternity will be a big surprise. People that we believed that live in Heaven, can not it, and those we imagined that go to Hell may not be in it...

It was not bad
fdolansky8 February 2006
We're all entitled to an opinion, and Danny Corrales made his. Whether we believe or not, the Christian view point is valid and, if it is true, we all need to give serious consideration to our eternal future.

The film was well made for such a low-budget piece. Most of the acting was quite solid. I especially enjoyed Larry Roop, the actor who portrayed Darryl, the convicted rapist. One thing that bothered me about the plot was trying to tie, or the lack of tying, the four main characters together. It was not entirely clear to me that although these are four different people, they were all headed toward a common crossroads. I also did not understand why the gunman (played by Steve Miller) was so set against Dr. Cap. Who was giving him orders?

That aside, the film was not a "turn it off before you finish" type. This is not a big budget film, but don't let that deter you from giving it an open-minded viewing.

A Really Great Movie Must See
gmvcrew6 July 2006
From knowing the director and working on the set back in my home town and know how much hard went into this movie i am very happy with the final product. If you want to see a glimpse into what is in store when you do die this is only a glimpse of what is in the bible. Again this is a must see. I know while working on the set as a crew member we felt the presence of God at each set and at each time we prayed that God would be a part in the movie. So please Flood your local Christian bookstore and ask for this movie. God has worked wonders for this project and the others that Danny has done so far. The Movie is a little Graphic when showing the shots of hell but it is a very touching movie. If you already own this movie please keep showing this movie to your close hearted and close minded friends and family let God open there hearts and Mind to his Gospel and his love for us. Also check out Dannys other movies Final Exit and the Gathering. these are very low budget films but very inspirational and very Good Family movies. Danny worked with all the might God gave him to get these wonderful works out to the public.

Haters Gonna Hate

Hating a Christian movie just because it's Christian is called Bigotry. A good movie is a good movie despite it's religious aspects.

Great film
whiteja-362535 August 2020
Despite it being low budget this film was amazing. It truly makes you think and realize it is not good works that gets one to heaven, but eternal life in the Lord Jesus Christ who died and arose again for our sins. A great film with a great message.

Finally, a movie on Christian eschatology that addresses the tough questions
gallopingghost9 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Having watched a number of films that attempt to take on this topic, I usually find those efforts to be insufficient; typically, Biblical concepts are taken as a given, without being examined or expanded upon. People end up confused on why certain characters receive a fate they deem unjust.

This is one of the rare times where the skeptic gets a voice. Some of the most frequent objections to the doctrine of Hell take centre stage. The filmmakers don't shy away from them. An uncompromising look (at one point, a murder victim is seen in torment, while her murderer will be redeemed); I can see disturbs some of the other reviewers. The conventional ideas of Heaven and Hell (good people go to one, where bad go to the other) are still widely held today.

Some have complained this is an unChristian view, but it actually isn't. While there is no explicit example in the Bible like is shown in the movie; it is true that certain characters (Moses, David, Paul) committed vile acts, but were considered righteous by the demonstration of their faith. Where the self-righteous (ex. Pharisees of the New Testament) were judged most harshly.

I don't expect this to be the norm (in other places of the Bible, it is made quite clear that murderers will be held accountable before God). But it is true that the only route to Heaven is by the grace of God. We can only accept it. Some, or even many we deem unworthy today, will be saved.

The experiences of the four characters, their rationalizations and their reactions, may well be shared by many when their time of judgement comes.
