Good Intentions...
kingtermite1 October 2006
The film had an interesting story, but I'd like to see the story redone with a better film. It was a good enough story that the viewer can see what the film maker is trying to convey, but it definitely had LOTS of room for improvement.

I'm sure budget was a constraint, as it had the obvious feel of a low budget film. However, some things were just nearly inexcusable, such as the sound track that seemed to go in and out at times. The acting itself was often sub-par too.

I think of the film maker continues, she will become better. I'd try another film of hers again.

Interesting insight

This haunting tale of love and art crosses the borders of nationality and culture, following two women who discover a transcendent bond. Meihua (Youxin Yang) is a Chinese painter who travels to Paris from her home on the Yangtze River. There, she meets Stephanie (Sabine Bail), a photographer with whom she shares many of the same ideas about life and art. The two women's admiration for one another's work eventually escalates, but the pull of disparate cultures might prove to be too much to overcome. Interesting insight on how different cultures perceive homosexuality. What I like is the message of this film that "love transcends gender". Independently made film but won several awards at film festivals.
