Todos Juntos.. Great show for little Fix-Its!
nwcatchick11 January 2007
My first thought also was that Bob the Builder (our favorite) was definitely a big inspiration for this show. And on top of that they took a cue from the success of popular Spanish/English bilingual shows, such as Diego. However true that may be, my boys love construction themes and tools (how cute is a hammer named Pat & a screwdriver named Felipe?), and I like watching them learn some Spanish too. They took to this show right away and ask to watch it all the time! I think it's pretty cute and tolerable for adult viewers, which is more than I can say for most of the other shows aimed at kids. The episodes stick to a predictable pattern, it's upbeat and delivers some good messages. Although it may not be the most original program ever, it's enjoyable children's programming all the same!

Cute, but it could be better
Dusty-1424 September 2006
Handy Manny is definitely a cute show, and one that isn't too annoying for parents to watch along with their kids. (Although the parallels to Bob the Builder are obvious). My kids - 6, 4 and 2 - love it. Manny and the tools each have their own personalities and work together to solve problems and help their neighbors. And the projects are ones that kids can relate to - fixing a slat on a baby crib, fixing a latch on a bunny cage. The songs (which are repeated in every episode) are catchy and my older kids have been singing them repeatedly. One issue I have with with Manny is that, since he only has a limited number of tools, he sometimes uses them incorrectly - such as using pliers instead of a wrench to remove a bolt or using a flat blade screwdriver instead of a wood chisel to make a channel in a piece of wood (although he did wear safety goggles which was good). I've tried to explain to my kids that while it's great Manny does cool stuff and helps his neighbors, using the wrong tool for the wrong job can be dangerous. If wish Disney would give him a few extra tools or limit his jobs to the ones he can do with the tools he has. That said, it still has many good points and kids will love this show.

I say the show is okay, but the popularity had dropped since 2006. To me this show is not that bad, but It could of been better...

wonderful show
mak-183 November 2006
This show is wonderful for kids. The CGI was done with a cartoon look instead of reaching for reality, which helps draw in the kids and the show doesn't stretch for anything. It is simple enough to draw in the kids and the characters interaction is incredible. My 3yo is transfixed to this show more than any other. Plus he gets the same out of this as he does Dora and Diego with the multi-lingual aspect. While similar in nature to Bob the builder, as both shows promote teamwork on projects, Bob tends to do large scale projects and Manny works on fix-it projects around the house. The different types of tools make it easy for kids to see how different types of work are completed. A perfect compliment to Bob, not a competitor.

Great show that teaches boys how to develop their fine motor skills so they can have some knowledge in how to fix and use tools. I highly recommend that little boys watch this show, it's very educational with some entertainment.

A shameless Bob The Builder rip-off i used to like this show since september 16th 2006 but i started to hate it 2020, and also Wilmer Valderama voiced gaxton from Onward which Onward is way better than Handy Manny.

I think this is great
vregen_s14 October 2006
This show is great for kids. It's unique and has great lessons for kids to learn. It's not like Bob the Builder nor should it be compared to it. This is totally different and effects a completely different age group and possibly generation. The mix of English to Spanish is good because it's not trying to teach kids Spanish but keeps them understanding that some kids might talk in broken English. Therefore it teaches them tolerance. Lately I believe that kids shows have been striking out for age groups 5 to 10 but this is a great one and the producers did a fantastic job on this one. I love to sit and watch it myself with my niece. She learns about fears, expectations, and that you can do and be anything you want. This show is great for both boys and girls. It's worth the watch and it's worth the time to set your kids in front the the television (which normally I would not condone). I love that the voice of Manny is a former "That 70's Show" Character. Way to go "Fez". How wonderful for you to break the mold of mainstream TV stars and break into children's television. You have earned my respect as an actor. Back to the show though, this show was worth the wait to see and continues to surprise me with the great episodes they put out. This show has earned my respect as a children's show. The voices and the people behind the show are wonderful creators and deserve so much credit.

Exercises in problem-solving
peace9-116 September 2006
Manny is a repairman with a toolbox full of talking tools, all of which are cleverly named: for example, the measuring tape is Stretch, the hammer is Pat. Together Manny and his tools take on a variety of jobs, which always require thinking through possible ways of getting them done. In one episode, they're trying to help a lady get a new oven into her house, but it's too big for the door, so they have to try to find some other way to get it into the house.

Manny is a Latino, and speaks a mixture of English and Spanish, as do some of the other characters on the show; only one of his tools has a Latino accent -- Felipe, the phillips screwdriver. When other characters greet them, they typically say, "Hola, Manny. Hello, Tools."

My 4-year-old daughter loves this show. She enjoys learning what the different tools are and what they do.

Great Kid Show
hockeygoddess828 September 2006
My Grandson is very picky on what he will watch on TV, it often takes awhile for him to warm to a show. This time he really liked it and it won't get him really worked up like some shows can, and more importantly it doesn't get on my nerves early in the morning like some shows. It's cheerful and easy going, a bit like the Thomas the Tank Engine. You can stand it being on in the background without gritting your teeth like Barney and stuff. I did notice the voice of "RED" from the 70's show in one episode, I thought it seemed funny to hear his voice in a children's show. Kudos to Wilmar- and creators also of course

We love this at our house!!! (updated)
littlestarsthree15 October 2006
My husband, my 4 year old, my 2 year old, and me...We all love it! Our boys are into repairing things, but we didn't like how Bob the Builder often whined....since we don't like reinforcing something they do enough naturally without cartoon characters reinforcing it. :) Manny has a great attitude. We love that Mr. Lowpart's cat has a comb- over as well. :) So funny! Manny is humble, genuinely interested in others (more than just another repair job), has a positive attitude and great work ethic. His tools have such fun names and the music is catchy. We're all singing the songs around the house these days. My two year old gets up and dances when the song comes on. My 4 yr old talks about Manny and his tools and some of the other characters throughout the day. We were in the van last week and he was talking about Mr. Lowpart and his cat. I couldn't remember the cat's name, but my son reminded me that it's Fluffy. :) Great show that we all look forward to when we can tune in! :) ...Coming back to add that we recently noticed a theme in the shows. Every tool is useful...just for different jobs. It teaches turn taking...sometimes it's someone else's turn to help with a job, but we're all working together. Love this! Also my 4 yr old has learned to distinguish whether "Felipe" or "Turner" is needed just by looking at screws. :) He is constantly wanting to work with my husband now on projects around the house. LOVES going to the hardware store now. :)

Handy Manny
mariaraluca-1959026 November 2020
If you want your kids to learn basic spanish, don't show them Dora, show them this. I used to watch both Handy Manny and Dora when i was little and i watched a lot more Dora but i learned more from Handy Manny in less than 10 episodes. The characters in this are fascinating , i didn't dislike one character and most of all its a great educational show that teaches kids Basic Spanish, or basically what Dora wanted to be

A Pretty Decent Show
oonaheartsnonny9613 November 2014
I remember when this show first premiered on Playhouse Disney (now called Disney Junior) in 2006. At the time, and also a little bit now, I found it to be one of the most charming cartoons ever. A lot of people have compared it to Bob the Builder and have said that this is a rip off. Not only do I disagree with that statement, but I personally think that this is better than Bob the Builder. Handy Manny teaches preschoolers how to be honest, you should include others, everyone is different, and to ask for help if you really need it. Bob the Builder taught friendship and teamwork. Well, that's all fine and good but the lessons Handy Manny teaches seem much more fleshed out. On top of that, the characters of Handy Manny are much more three dimensional than the characters of Bob the Builder. Their personality traits are present and some of them start out a certain way and then go through a story arc that changes them. Bob the Builder was boring compared to the colorful and three dimensional world of Handy Manny.

Great multicultural show for Toddlers!
lomilomilomelin7 October 2006
This show is a great cultural bridge and understandable on a preschooler's level. What a lovely show and character this is. Luckily, here in America, we are able to show diversity and positive images of several different cultures. Which is really the point of this show. It shows Manny, a self depreciating character, who enjoys all around him. Hispanic or otherwise. The show presents all in a pleasant positive way. Who cares if it is similar to any other show. Toddlers couldn't care less! Most important...My two year old TRULY enjoys it and looks forward to it every day. Since he is the target audience and loves it, I give it a 10. Why, because it is a 10 with my son and thus with me.

GREAT kids show!
hamsterkitten8 December 2006
I have a one year old who isn't interested in cartoons yet, but I occasionally turn on cartoons in hopes she'd pay attention. I turned on Handy Manny and she was not interested, but I watched all four episodes in a row! I love that it teaches Spanish and has good messages, plus it is entertaining! Not too much singing and doesn't make me want to gag watching it! I can't wait until they put it out on DVD! I also was surprised to find out Manny was voiced by Wilder Valderrama. At first I thought it sounded like Mark Wahlberg, that's why I looked it up. I also like the graphics- very easy to watch. They seem like the graphics from Veggie Tales.

Very well done children's program that teaches Spanish.
obtravelingnow4 November 2006
Very well done children's program that teaches Spanish. This show is extremely creative and fun. There are a many characters for the children to fall in love with and the stories are well written. The incorporation of Spanish is a great idea with this program becoming a super teaching tool. This is much better than Dora since you can understand the articulation of these characters and voices so much more. Also, there is teaching as far as "community" terms and a great sense of being a part of a neighborhood and a group that works together. Apart from showing kids the value and importance of fixing things and exposing them to different stores, parts of the community, and businesses, it also shows the value of doing a good job. Manny, the main character, exemplifies great citizenship. Team work and a great attitude also make for a good message. I applaud the creators!

Love This Show!!
battleg13 February 2007
Unlike all the other kids shows that have Spanish and English included in the show, this one is easy to follow. My son and daughter both love this show and are excited when they hear the theme song. It is a bit like Bob the Builer, but as an adult it annoys me how the people walk and the characters in the show talk. It's not how people talk everyday. Bob is too proper and Manny is more of how people hold conversations in their everyday lives. I love this show because it teaches kids how to get along with one another in a group and solve problems within that group in an easy to understand way. Hope they make many more of these shows. Good Job!!

Handy Manny
Irene-7822 September 2006
What a wonderful show. My 3 year old son just loves it. I wish it were on more often. The talking tools are his favorites. Its nice to see shows doing problem solving, and owning up for mistakes. I sit with my son and watch also. There is always a lesson to be learned. My son runs around the house speaking Spanish. He also goes around the house and when he see something that needs to be fixed, he says "Mom, lets call Handy Manny to come and fix it". The singing is very catchy, and my son sings along with Manny and the tools, and he dances all over the place. My family is looking forward to any publication that we hope will come out in support of this show, videos and such. This show is on a great level for the preschooler, and family.

Clever and well done children's show
smoses-26 September 2006
I think maybe the previous commenter was being a little too PC. This is a lighthearted show, and well executed. Think a CGI Dora the explorer, or maybe a less annoying Backyardigans... I think kids will love it.

In terms of comparison to Bob the Builder - the show holds up well with well defined characters and plot lines. The visuals are excellent - I think CGI is something that can be quite "cold" but the animators have really brought the characters to life. I think kids now appreciate really well done CGI movies - think of the quality of some of the more recent films. It's time a cartoon series lived up to this standard.

Time will tell, but this show is so well executed that it's sure to be a hit.

One of the best on TV for preschoolers
erin76943 February 2009
I love this show for my 2yo twins. Manny is calm, helpful, and fun. I love that his voice is serene; young children don't need any help from TV characters to be hyper. He and his tools get in interesting situations that require problem solving and cooperation, but the writers make the solutions understandable for preschoolers. This show doesn't teach numbers or letters, but it is bi-lingual. Spanish words and English words are used interchangeably and the Spanish words are often explained without over-emphasizing to the point of being annoying. It's just part of their world, which is how it is for a lot of children in the US. The different characters show different personality types without straying into stereotypes. Gender roles for careers are definitely non-traditional: the mayor is a Hispanic woman, the hardware store owner is a white woman, etc. Overall, the best Disney show for preschoolers on TV right now.

Amazing!!
rachelx31420 October 2006
OK, I'm 14 years old and the large majority of kids shows get on my nerves. But this show was amazing. I loved it. I plan on continuing to watch it even though it's on while I'm in school. It teaches kids that everybody has a purpose in life. It's a great show that anybody can watch and enjoy

OK well I have to have at least 10 lines so I'm going to talk about Handy Manny some more. I just turned on the TV this morning and there it was. So I watched it and it was amazing. It turns out that Handy Manny's voice is pretty sexy. So at the end I watched for his name. It went by to fast, but I did catch "Wilmer." And honestly how many Wilmers do you know? So I came here to find out if I was right. I'm amazing. Then I saw a bunch of people being negative so I thought I'd share the positivity!!!! Love you!!!!

10/10 greatest anime ever!
autisticalexshow21 February 2017
This is one of the best animes ever even riveling myazaki classsics. while the screwdriver ark was a little lackluster I still think the manga was better. The main problem with the anime was all of the filler that was put into it this issue seems to plague most anime nowadays the op for this anime is excellent I recommend

My 3 yr old's favorite
acoyle12329 September 2018
Handy Manny is a very cute and clever show for preschoolers/young children...and even not so young people as well! My 3 yr old son loves this show, it's his first choice most times. I like that it's not too stimulating and flashy, it has a calm, even pace, good for little kids. The different characters are also interesting, and I find myself watching the show at times too! I also like Manny's calm, polite attitude, and the themes of helping others and working together.
