For those in the film industry, when a film says it was directed by "Allen Smithee", this is a euphemism for a film that is being disowned by them. In other words, they refuse to put their real name on the product--most often because of creative differences with the studio who often re-edited the film against the director's wishes. When CAPTIVE ends, it says it was written and directed by Smithee, though it really was made by Jayson Vades. I really am not sure why this Smithee appellation was used--it was a pretty decent film. The only major complaint is that it was obviously shot on video and with little lighting--so the print was very, very grainy.
The film begins with a guy waking up to find himself in a cage in a dungeon. Soon, a cop comes along and announces that the guy will be starved to death because he had raped his wife! The victim strongly denies it, so the cop shoots him twice--not enough to kill but enough to hurt. There's much, much more to it than this--and many, many twists and turns. The final product is terrifying, creepy and well written.
Finally, because it's rather violent and abounds with cursing, parents will want to exercise common sense in letting younger and impressionable viewers see it. However, I the language and violence was apparently necessary for the film, so I am not being critical--just telling folks to use common sense.
