half-hour situation comedy set in an American fast food franchise
raymond-andre21 February 2010
Local cable distributor Videotron set up a group of speciality channels including a youth channel called "Canal Famille" . Part of their original programming was to create several situation comedies modelled somewhat on the American model. An unexpected success story, this small cable channel changed its name to VRAK TV and aired several very lucrative series.

Among their best comedy series are "Dans Une Galaxie Près De Chez Vous" ("In A Galaxy Near You", a sort of Sci-Fi parody series.

"Radio Enfer" "(Radio Hell" or "Hell Radio") about a high school radio station.

"Il Était Une Fois Dans Le Trouble", ("Once Upon A Time There Was Trouble") about a weird little agency that helps people with their problems.

And "Une Grenade Avec Ça? ("Would You Like A Grenade With Your Order?") about an American Fast Food franchise restaurant. The premise is that a Vietnam veteran coming back from "The Nam" vowed to start up a restaurant which bloomed into a full fledged success. The restaurant has a military theme running (hence the title which refers to an hot apple turnover called a grenade). The series follows the trials and dreams of the group of kids who work at the local franchise.

The comedy is really on the level of Gilligan's island or the Disney youth comedies (Hannah Montana, and co.) - fairly simplistic , or at best droll.
