Amazing

Absolute amazing band who need more recognition outside of Australia. Top notch musicianship and such a tight unit. Show the oil more love as they are great.

A must for all Oils fans!

With AC/DC, Midnight Oil is one of Australia's premiere rock bands. overall, this is a fine DVD package, which includes two Sydney-based live performances; because it shows the band at their peak. The first performance "Saturday Night At The Capitol" (1982) was a 35mm film (to my knowledge, never previously released), and the second "Oils On The Water" [1985] was a national television broadcast. The tracks are punctuated with Garrett's political satire, which was a feature of all of the oils concerts. There music did not just reflect coastal youth "surfing" culture. It had a political edge dealing with nuclear weapons, environment issues and indigenous land rights. The lyrics reflected the concerns of many young people of that generation. I would have preferred a linear PCM sound track also be included. With no doubt this is true classical Oils!
