Kind of an Apt Title
paul-day-clone24 February 2017
There's a lot of goth. There's vampires. And it's hell.

If you like blurry video of chunky goth chicks dancing in a half empty club, you're in luck. There's a lot of that, too. Plus lots and lots and lots of video special effects that are supposed to...I'm not sure why they're there. Is it an homage to cable access shows? Possibly. It doesn't make sense any other way.

Ostensibly, it's about an up and coming goth band on the verge of success. An A&R chick shows up just in time for the battle of the goth bands of which there only seem to be two. And the A&R chick kills off one of them. Don't worry - i I won't post spoilers because I'm not sure I'll finish it.

Why are there CGI segments? I don't know. Do I want to watch a fat chick masturbate for a hot chick? Not really.

Does this review make any sense? Nope. Nor does the movie. But it's nice to see the hoses the gallons of fake blood come out of.

Goats.

Save yourself some time and watch something else.

A new kind of vampire?
duggies7029 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I have a thing for bad movies and punk new wave (I'm older school) music. So this movie has both. The cast is a little below average with many really trying too hard (particularly Michael Anthony Panella). The sets very amateurish and the dialogue is childish. I do like the realistic attitude of a band that wants to succeed and willing to overlook a record company executive that doesn't even remotely appear legitimate.

I could do without the bondage scenes, as they don't really add to the story. They could have used the actors in those roles as additional bar patrons, it may have made the sets a little more realistic.

As to the vampiric "attacks" they really spilled more than they drank. Each attack has over indulging blood spirts to the point most of the blood is spilled. If the attacks are for some pleasure, that would have added to the terror of the victims. As it was the victims gush blood without even the attacker present. Is this a new kind of vampire that kills and doesn't feed? I don't know but I watched it for the music and enjoyed that.

"Gothic Vampires From Hell"
deadwebby15 September 2007
Got to love the title "Gothic Vampires From Hell" but keep in mind it is a low level B horror movie and is not going to be for everybody.

The positive: It has a great music / sound track including Switch Blade Symphony, Razed In Black, Leather Strip, New Skin, Christian Death, & more. The lead Annastasia (Gina DeVettori) did a great job in her role with a poorly written script. The vampires eyes and fangs were also cool.

The downside: The film has awful animation and could have been much better with out a lot of it. One of the biggest problems is the script having a poor plot and is almost just like a very long music / goth video. The blood is not realistic and is poured out in buckets. In some scenes you can actually see the tubes. The editing is also poorly done being outdated with 80's transitions. Lastly the budget.

With all this involved I was surprised the lead Annastasia did as good as a job as she did. For the other actors even if you cast others for the role it really would not help the film given the plot, animation and editing.

I did not find the movie to be a waste and found it amusing at times, which counts for something and worth watching.

Just plain bad, shame on you Cleopatra Records!
D-Sligar13 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I went into this film with low expectations, as I had already read the real reviews prior the inappropriate votes being cast (you know who you are, otherwise you wouldn't have deleted my prior review). This movie was so awful I couldn't wait for it to end. Sure the music was cool, but this is supposed to be a horror movie, not some mega-music video compilation. The special effects were straight out of the 8th grade, the acting could have been better if they had scoured the local High School, and the story was so thin as to be non-existent. Sure, there were a couple of hotties in it, but that doesn't mean they can act (which they can't).

Let's talk special effects... hmm, let's see... there was a tube you could see each time someone got their throat ripped out (maybe they wanted you to think it was the jugular), more blood than the body can hold (and all of it dark red going to the brain???), people squirming and talking long after their throats were ripped open (yeah, all that blood loss and they're still coherent and lucid???), stick-on vampire teeth (Very cheesy. Why didn't you pick up the $50 ones that at least look a little realistic?), makeup that looked to be left to the actors/actresses(?); i.e., no extra effort here just the basic Goth look, and the CGI... god! This was just plain horrendous in a mid-90's sort of look; i.e., blocky, no shading, and ugly.

Shame, shame, shame on you Cleopatra Records, for releasing this poor excuse for a horror movie on us. It doesn't even rate to be in the low-low-low B flick range, let alone as high as it appears to be here. If you really have to check it out, look for it in your local Wal-Mart's $1 bin here in a few months. If you just can't be without the music, for Christ's sake, please just listen to the bands you enjoy and avoid this agonizingly painful 1.5 hour flop (or get the sound track).

BTW I've ordered many CD's from Cleopatra in the past, even used to faithfully check out the video compilations they used to provide, but this one was ready for the grave once they cast the no-skill actors chosen, skimped on lighting effects, and went for cheesy-to-no special effects. Music doesn't a good movie make.

You've been warned.

BTW Please describe what abuse this report has to me before asking to have it removed, otherwise it will simply be posted again and again; I have loads of time, do you? Must've struck a nerve.

Gotta second this! Great film!
SimonBarrettFan17 May 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Just like Simon says.

"If you are a fan of this band, this is a must have DVD, if you are looking for Oscar award winning material you are in the wrong place. I liked the 'vampy' style, yes I did mean that. The obviously fake blood, the heavy thumping bass, and the really interesting 'special' effects makes for a great 2 hours of fun. This is not a movie, and yet it is not a concert, I am not sure how you would 'pigeon hole' this one. It sure is fun tho.

The concept behind this movie is a version of American Idol, several bands are trying to win a recording contract. The big difference with this contest is that all of the bands are Goth. It turns out that the sponsor of the event, the 'less than above board' Gotham Records are a bunch of blood sucking vampires, one by one they are literally eliminating the contestants.

Oscar winner it may not be, but fun romp it certainly is. Gina DeVettori and Kristen Zaik offer up a fine performance as the Management Company. If you are looking for some 'Goth' exposure, you can get it from MVD." Gotta second this! Great film!

A goth and vamp film.
kerwinpotter10 July 2007
Warning: Spoilers
A goth and vamp film.

This film is about Gothem Records Executives scoping out Goth bands to sign a record deal and then feasting on them. Gothem records is where every Goth band wants to be so they jump at any chance to sign with them not knowing what they are getting into.

I viewed this film with no expectations as I do all low budget horror films. From the looks of the film it was definitely a lower budget production/DV, they used a LOT of fake blood, the outdated animations were lame but the film kept my interests and the leads Anastasia and Draven did a good job.

If you don't enjoy goth music and/or vampires then this film most likely won't be for you but the music rocked and the chicks were hot. I dug it!

Not too bad but could have been better
simonbeck915 July 2007
There were many things about this film that could have been better such as the effects, backgrounds, production, etc. Also the killing scenes were hit up with buckets of fake blood.

I saw this film with a couple friends of mine and they enjoyed it, however, they usually like vampire movies.

The beautiful Gina DeVettori played a good part and showed that she can be good on the big screen with a bright future in the acting industry.

Lastly a couple things that bothered me about this movie such as using the same club dancing scenes and animation.

Anyways, I still recommend it even though the film leans towards a certain crowd.

A movie or old MTV music video?
ShabbiS16 August 2007
Warning: Spoilers
A movie or old MTV music video? Not sure what Gothic Vampires From Hell wants to be. The goth band Gothic Vampires From Hell competes in a battle of the bands (a goth battle) and offered a record deal from the owner of Gotham Records (Annastasia Nightshade). Gotham Records is represented by the owner the gorgeous Annastasia and 2 of her sexy companions Jasmine and Fawn. As it turns out they all happen to be blood sucking vampires.

It is a fun concept and the actors actually do a decent job, Annastasia glows in her role but it's all terribly low budget. In the opening credits there are a number of misspellings, they use buckets of blood and in one scene you can see the tube as the blood gushes out, they use triangles break out of the screen as a transition as if this is not enough to mention. If you enjoy seeing low budget cheesy horror movies and like goth music, you will likely enjoy some of this film.

The only reason....
LAKid751 June 2007
The only reason I wanted to see this movie was because Gina DeVettori was in it.

I saw her in Nice Guys (aka High Hopes) in her role of Carly (funny!). So when I heard she was the lead I had to check it out.

I enjoyed her portrayal of Gothem Records owner Annastasia. She did a great job and to my surprise the rest of the acting was good.

It is a lower budget production (not a Hollywood blockbuster). The editor could have added a little scary music to it. But as a horror movie goes it was good.

I enjoyed it.

Good film!
Famous3Productions25 May 2007
I picked up this film b/c I am a fan of Christian Death, Switchblade, etc.

Now I am a fan of the film.

I was expecting to see a crappy little horror film but it ended up being pretty good.

Anastasia is hot and the acting is good.

There were some cool killing scenes (a lot of fake blood) and the editing was out of the 80's (actually suits the current trends now a days as fashion is back in the 80's now anyways).

Overall a good little film and if they make a sequel I there!

Gothic Vampires nice!
nikiforete7 February 2008
I saw some of the reviews and agree with some of them that this film is not for everybody. Also noticed that a couple reviews may have taken the film way to seriously but like most of the reviews I agree that it was a good film.

Most of these kinds of horror movies are not scary and I don't recall any Sterling film that is. More entertainment is what I believe it is and by far the best Sterling film that I seen.

The story line is the weakest part of the film although I was impressed what the leads brought to the film with what they had to work with (the lack there of). Anastasia was my favorite. It was a good idea but the writing could have been so much better.

There were some cheesy parts in the film like first person getting killed in the film and talking and talking and the credits but it is more black humor / comedy. I enjoyed it and if you are in kick back or silly mood check this one out!

"It's so bad that it's gone past good and back to bad again..."
enchantemusique19 December 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was *the* worst horror movie I've ever seen, but it was amazingly fun to watch. Get a bottle of vodka and/or some smokes, a few friends, and be prepared to laugh your ass off.

The Goth music is actually rather good, and there are some hot girls in the movie...but there is next to no plot, horrible special effects (they spelled it "specail" in the credits), and the fake fangs are so bad that the vampires *lisp* when they were them. This is not a B horror movie- it's not even a C movie. It's practically BELOW an F! I had so much fun watching this movie that I actually plan to buy it on Ebay or something to show at parties. If you're looking for a movie to scare you or creep you out, this is not it. But if you're looking for a great time and a movie that will make you laugh your ass off because it's so bad, you'll love this.
