Hard To Describe, It's So Ludicrous
ccthemovieman-116 December 2006
Tony the Barber and Rick Sable, the crook are old-time childhood pals who haven't seen each other in a long time until the latter gets a haircut one day at Tony's new shop. Jim Olsen is there.....and witness Tony's amazing power of suggestion. Tony is almost like a hypnotist. If he tells you to do something - and if it's in your nature - such as the crook in this story really being an honest guy underneath the bravado - then he will "go straight."

This is one of more not-to be-believed episodes ever, really one with zero credibility, but it has some humor to it. As usual Jimmy and the pushy Lois Lane get in trouble. The ending is, perhaps, the most unrealistic one in a crime story in over 50 years of watching television!

Overall, it's okay but not one of those "thrill-packed episodes" the announcer advertises as the end of each show!!

Series Really Declining at This Point
Hitchcoc13 February 2015
Jimmy Olsen attends a barbershop run by a guy named Tony. One day a well known gangster comes in. He grew up with Tony and brags about all the bad stuff he is going to do. It turns out that the barber has some kind of power over people. By talking to them he can get them to do what he wants them to. He dissuades the gangster from doing a crime. He seems to be able to put people to sleep. Tony and Jimmy (along with stowaway Lois) end up in danger at the gangster's lair. There is a battle of minds, leading to the introduction of a bomb, and other nonsense. This series was in trouble because now supernatural elements are being introduced which really detract, even from something that is supposed to be adventure.

The Adventures of...a Barber with Completely Inexplicable Supernatural Powers
sssuperman-dot-com13 February 2015
This may be the most surreal episode of this series that I've seen so far. It's not "goofy" or "wacky" or over-the-top. It's just...very odd.

It's not horrible or anything, but...Superman doesn't appear much. Usually when I say that I mean "Superman spends most of the time in the episode as Clark Kent" (which is very common in this show), but here I just mean...Superman doesn't appear much. In any sense.

Lois and Jimmy appear more than Clark, but in a way, it doesn't feel like they "do much". Instead, the hero of the day is...a random barber who completely out of the blue has some sort of hypnotic powers...there is no explanation, no context, no attempt to make it make sense in any way at all.

It's not "bad" per se, but it is a bit boring. However, if you enjoy being weirded out by random stuff, you're certain to love it!
