A sign of the times

It's hard to look back at how homophobic media was, especially amazed Portia played such an over the top homophobic character with zero redeeming qualities. This show has a place in history, but when I re watch it all I can think is "thank god we have moved forward as a society". Ally herself is a self centered annoying woman, which you can kind of get used to but the way they handle trans characters and gay characters is so difficult to watch. I was a teen when this show aired, and I'm still blows away by how truly nasty this show treated any character that was LGTBQ with exception of course for when ally kisses Ling- that is totally fine but any other same sex relationships are made fun of, talked about like it's so disgusting. The first season is pretty much unwatchable without being able to fast forward-if you are a person who cares about others and not conservative trash this episode is a hard watch.
