This is up there with the best episodes of a sitcom I have ever seen.
In fact it doesn't feel like a sitcom at times, such is the level of depth that it displays. It plays out almost like drama, with the final moments being tear-jerking and then some.
Dick Van Dyke pops up as Becker's dad, and plays the role with a twinkle in his eye, clearly relishing the chance to play both the laughs/drama the role offers. He goes toe to toe with Ted Danson, and it's very engaging stuff.
This is a wonderful example of the show at its best, and I would highly recommend people watch it to see that this wasn't just a normal sitcom.
