There is some tit for tat reprisals between Britain and the Soviets.

When a British diplomat has been sent home by the Russians. Bishop orders Callan to target a man called Medov. He organises art events for the Soviet Embassy and regarded as a spy.

After some psychological pressure is put on by Medov. He feels the and heat. To buy time from his fellow Russians, Medov intimates that he is a senior agent.

There is something dark about this story. It is messy and dirty and the director displays this when Callan comes to meet Medov.

The floor is wet as Medov urinated in his pants. He is a distraught figure, his daughter injured, his wife hysterical and he has nowhere left to go.

The Soviets will treat him with suspicion and requesting asylum is the only option left for him.

Callan knows he has been mixed up in some dirty business and not told the entire story by Bishop.

As for Cross, his gung ho and cavalier style has left a young girl injured.

Mike Pratt plays Medov. He was better known for Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased.) Although he died in 1976 at the young age of 45, he looks really old here and this was made 4 years before his death.
