Captain Midnight, played Richard Webb, who with his Secret Squadron crew, protects America from various nasty types, both foreign and domestic.
Webb is asked by John Hamilton to look into some diamond smugglers. Uncle Sam is not amused that they are not getting their cut and wants the trade stopped. They believe the stones are being brought in to the States from Mexico.
Webb and his sidekick, Sid Melton, borrow a diamond detector from Squadron egghead, Olan Soule. They then jump in their super plane, The Silver Dart, and off to New Mexico they go.
Hooking up with local Secret Squadron member, Gary Gray, they soon discover how the stones are being smuggled. The crooks, Ed Hinton, Zon Murray and John Cason put the stones in some hollow horseshoes. They then run a herd of horses up from Mexico.
The crooks are cornered with the help of the local lawman, I. Stanford Jolley. A brisk shootout, complete with western type six-shooters is needed before the boys are arrested.
Fun episode from the early days of Sci-fi television. (b/w)
