Henry Fonda plays here a plastic surgeon; for wealthy people, as you can guess. He seems very comfortable with his patients and his beautiful wife. One day, a woman comes and asks him to do something for her face, smashed after a car accident, a hit and run case. A woman on probation too. And you also have understood that this patient is not like his other patients. She will force him to watch the life as it really is, and the relation between the two of them will become very unusual. The surgeon will try to give her a new face and a new hope in life. You deal here with a sensitive drama in the soap opera genre, the kind of stuff perfect for a long TV series and which looks like a classic movie, the kind of piece of work in which you would have imagined Joan Crawford in the female patient character, in search for a new face, a new beginning in life. Henry Fonda is very good here, but with Joan Crawford, in a Warner Bros film of course, we could have imagined Zachary Scott or David Brian. But it will give you a good suspense in the end of the story.
