Diahann Caroll's first, best and only good scene Warning: Spoilers
{actually, the spoiler is only speculation}

I've always pointed out that the Dominique Deveraux character is like a fifth wheel on the wagon (only a fifth wheel is actually a spare, a basic necessity, so d-uh to that old saying) and Diahann's portrayal is often way over the top, unintentionally funny in an unfunny way. Like, she comes across as a self-obsessed aging two- bit second-rate saloon singer and who'd want to buy any record of hers? It's abundantly clear that casting Diahann brought in a whole new sector of fans who would tune in to see their heroine. But the character is basically like a (highly unlikely) spin-off TV series waiting to be spun off. Her story-line intersected in most unlikely fashion. In short, I never quite accepted it. It seemed so contrived. She never seemed to fit in with the rest of the cast. She is clearly not a likable character, she appears haughty and, well, kinda bleghh! okay. Not one trace of fun. Would you notice in Exhibit A, that she has a daughter, Jackie, the burn victim that witnessed Claudia's death, that is suddenly forgotten as Mom buys a recording studio?

But okay, this episode featured the memorable catfight between the er, other detestable ol' witch (okay, I'm just kidding, you gotta have at least a hell of a lot of respect for Joan Collins, and I do) and this, er, fifth wheel character, and, people, that was some ridiculous utterly pathetic sight. Two ol' witches kicking each other's shins. Really, tut tut tut! With ol' Dominique dragged off kicking and screaming and hissing by security. Okay, Dominique Deveraux, er, Diahann Caroll, you are a member of the club now. But only just. You remain a cold, unattractive, forced-upon-the- audience character.

I saw tonight that I was (most possibly) wrong with my prediction re Sammy Jo and Danny. (see previous episode's review) The back of the box of the DVD unfortunately blabbed some plot development re abduction, don't you hate such blatant spoilers, but I was wrong in my recent assuming it's going to be Sammy Jo. I'm merely speculating, so my hunch is only just that, but there's this other new Crazy in the story, she wormed her way into Steven's bed, and already professes 'loving Danny...'

Not such a great episode for Heather Locklear fans. Though that first scene of hers, sitting there with the phone, oh, altogether now, what an angel princess! Then she's kinda fizzling in that other scene, bummer. But thinking about my first review for this season today while re-watching that doctor-telling-her-she's-not- with-baby scene of hers (previous episode), I thought that it would be only fair to recant that negative response. DYNASTY Season 7 has high entertainment! And I'm gonna have to buy Season 8!
