Things Get Fishy On Wall Street
JasonDanielBaker20 November 2014
Former government agent turned urban vigilante Robert McCall (Edward Woodward) is out for a pier-side fishing excursion with his protégé Mickey Kostmayer (Keith Szarabajka). They happen upon Samantha (Ashley Crow) - an unconscious young woman whom a pair of hoodlums have attempted to drown thinking she was someone else.

After she has sufficiently recovered McCall accompanies her to her apartment only to find that her beautiful roommate Wendy has disappeared. They find her moments later by looking out the front window after she has been killed by a hit & run driver.

Having stowed Samantha away under Mickey's protection at his fishing lodge McCall goes back in to the city to investigate. Wendy apparently was involved with sleazo Junk bonds trader C.R.Heaton (Dennis Boutsikaris). A market secret disclosed in a private, unguarded moment served to complicate things for everyone, particularly Ron Parrish (John Heard) - Heaton's main client.

The most noticeable physical aspect of Dennis Boutsikaris is his thick beard and the second most noticeable aspect is his longish hair purportedly neither of which have ever been common traits on Wall Street. But it is Dennis Boutsikaris playing the role. He can pass himself off as anything and do so with requisite panache.

By this point in the series McCall was brought in to dangerous situations via different means than the cryptic personal ad he ran in the newspapers. But it was a little much that he should just stumble on to a victim whilst fishing.

Oliver Platt appeared here in his first ever screen role. If you're keeping score he was terrific even back then.
