Landy is one messed up private...
planktonrules11 April 2016
Erskine and Ward are sent to investigate the murder of an Army chaplain's wife and the theft of a whole lot of weapons. Because it occurred on a military base, it falls under the jurisdiction of the FBI. However, Erskine knows things won't be easy, as a local hotshot, Mr. Shelly (Malcolm Atterbury) thinks he knows more than the FBI and begins trying to tell them how to run their case!

As for the prime suspect, it's Private Landy (Bruce Dern). He's got some serious emotional problems, was AWOL and was later picked up drunk out of his skull. Shelly assumes Landy is responsible and begins trying to pressure Erskine to make the arrest. At the same time, the Chaplain (Leslie Nielsen) is an odd one...and he seems bent on having Landy prosecuted as well. What's really going on here?

This is generally a very good episode, but I seriously doubt that the case (if actually real) played out like this. After all, in the end, the two agents go to arrest two men who had just stolen some incredibly powerful weapons (including machine guns)...and they wait for the criminals with just their service revolvers and no backup!!! Other than that dopey ending, not a bad episode and it's on YouTube...though it seems to be the ONLY episode from the series there.
