There are a few ways in which this story makes no sense. In most preceding episodes, Cissy is portrayed as having a few male friends. All of a sudden, none of the guys are noticing her? Ridiculous! Then, we get the ridiculous premise of Uncle Bill consulting "experts" to help Cissy "improve" herself. When Cissy is in the hallway at school, we get to see the girls that Cissy can't compete with, as well as the guys that don't pay attention. Not convincing. They were all average looking, at best. Cissy had no reason to care about any of them. In real life, Kathy Garver is old enough to be my mother. If I were lucky enough to meet her, I'm not sure that factor would even matter to me! Going back to the time of the show: If I had been one of those guys in her school, Cissy would have had to fight me off with a stick! Not only was Cissy genuinely cute, but you could see that she was just as beautiful on the inside. The whole premise of this episode makes no sense. However, the episode does work on one level. Because the focus was on Cissy, I got to look at her the whole time! Here's to you, Kathy Garver!

I thought this episode was weird. The plot line is that Cissy thinks none of the boys at school like her and want to go out with her. She says she freezes up when she talks to a boy. But there has been no evidence of this in other episodes! She always seemed to have a date. And she previously had boys come over to meet Uncle Bill. So the idea that the boys at her school no longer like her or want to date her really comes out of nowhere. In the episode where the family goes back to Indiana for a family reunion, she is asked to the prom by a local boy. In another episode, she is trying to get Uncle Bill meet the boy who wants to go steady with her. And yet another episode she has an after-school party in order for Uncle Bill to meet her current boyfriend as well as some of her other friends at school. However, in this episode ***spoiler*** only one person shows up to a party she plans ***spoiler*** So this episode does not make much sense.
