We learn something about Ben Travis before he was into circuses. At one time
John Derek was a gambler and he used to make a living that way. But he may have
gotten a bit rusty when the T&T Circus has a cash flow problem and he goes
back to the gambling halls. He gets cheated and then when he spots the
cheater and beats him to the draw the only witness is gambler Gilbert Roland
who doesn't corroborate Derek's story.
He does have Derek's IOU for half the circus and he brings in gambling and crooked gambling at that to the midway.
Roland has always been a favorite of mine, but he's not shown to best advantage here. A rather loose script and characterizations that make no rational sense bog this episode down
