Strong penultimate episode.

Bill Rose is accused of killing his cheating and deceitful girlfriend, the pair are publicly seen falling out in a strong manner, but Commander Gideon isn't so easily convinced of his guilt.

The standard of this show just can't be faulted, as it approaches its end, it just gets better and better, this is another tense, gripping edge of the seat thriller.

It's a thoroughly engaging whodunnit, you are left guessing as to the identity of the killer, there are definitely a few plausible contenders, and naturally there's the gripping conclusion.

It's great to see the divide that existed between the mods and rockers, and I think you get a sense of that real rivalries that existed.

Alan Rothwell, Carol White and Jo Rowbotham were all spot on.

8/10.

Commander George Gideon and DCI Keen tackle youth crime.

Bill Rose (Alan Rothwell) has been accused of murdering his girlfriend Winifred Norton (Carol White.)

They had an argument earlier in the day as she had been flirting openly with a greaser. Bill had hit her.

Winifred turned up dead and the evidence points to Bill even though he was supposed to be in the cinema with his sister at the time of the murder.

Gideon after the urging from Bill's sister takes another look at the evidence and finds it wanting.

It is a middle class attempt to look at working class life of the 1960s. Winifred has a stepfather.

It is interesting to watch it for Carol White who will be forever known for Cathy Come Home. Her life was cut short because of addiction issues.

Alan Rothwell was Ken Barlow's brother in Coronation Street and later became famous for childrens broadcasting.
