Dirty little coward, shot down Mr. Howard ..... "
revdrcac18 June 2006
This 1956 tale of the later days of Jesse James is well worth a closer look by fans and history buffs alike. Robert Preston was a wonderful actor & brings a different dimension to this historical character. Jesse James has often been portrayed as a Robin Hood of the old west ....... this film at least attempts to be somewhat balanced.

The script and acting here were well done. The legend of the Missouri bandit was handled fairly, with an entertaining flair. I have always been a fan of Preston and would have loved to see him tackle this role on the big screen.

It will be interesting to contrast this film with the 2006 Brad Pitt film on the same subject ..........
