This is a very atmospheric episode, cloak and daggar stuff, thanks to ace director Paul Landres. Landres was also a cult film director who was behind THE RETURN OF DRACULA (1958) and THE VAMPIRE (1957), both popular chillers.
There's a lot of shadows and moody music, connected to Tracy and Greg piecing together the attempted murder of an oil company exec, instrumental in a merger. And the more influential the victim, the bigger the egos are and more complications arise.
There's many suspicious faces to go around here, and the acting is excellent. This episode was extremely well cast.
Veteran Neil Hamilton guest stars, a few years before BATMAN. Dramatic actress Dorothy Green plays Lucy, and has some of the best scenes. Familiar good guy/bad guy in both movies and tv, Steve Brodie, plays Hank, also look for 50s sci fi film star Mala Powers.
Gloria Elmor wrote this story, who penned eight episodes for the series, eleven for 77 SUNSET STRIP and five for SURFSIDE 6. That's a wow.
Cricket sings A TREE IN THE PARK, by Rodgers and Hart.
The ending, with a real creepy feel, is well worth the wait, again thanks to spot on direction by Paul Landres.
From SEASON 3 remastered WB dvd box set.
