Includes A Very Early James Bond Sighting
sebekm3 August 2009
I have been a great fan of Jack Benny since his days on black and white television, as well as listening to his radio program rebroadcasts on "Old Time" XM Radio. I saw this episode last night as part of the local MyNetworkTV/Retro Television Network programming. As usual, Jack is appropriately funny, stingy, flabbergasted, exasperated, and frequently at a loss for words. What made this episode exceptional for me was seeing a very young Sean Connery pop on-screen as a porter lugging baggage! The future Mr. Bond....James Bond....had a comedic line or two, which he delivered in a manner befitting a wisecracking baggage-handler. Nonetheless, this very early James Bond sighting (1957) - albeit brief - made this episode of "The Jack Benny Program" worthwhile viewing to say the least.

Laughed Out Loud When I Saw This One
preacha9319 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this episode one time in the early 90s when Comedy Central was playing the old Jack Benny television shows. I haven't seen it since, but I thought it was hilarious at the time.

This was an episode filmed in Europe. The plot involves Jack staying in a hotel and being frustrated by the loud opera singing coming from the room next door. He starts to complain until he is told that a famous opera singer was discovered and made his agent millions of dollars. This changes Jack's tune, and he offers to start his neighbor in a career as a professional opera star, with Jack naturally as his agent. When Jack asks the neighbor to sing for a crowd of people, he is sickened by the man's awful voice. It turns out that the voice Jack heard was a record of the famous opera singer he had been told about.

Jack Benny and 007?
dtucker867 June 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Jack Benny was one of the greatest comic legends of all time. I used to watch his show when I was a little kid and am so glad to have found the episodes again on youtube (so many tv shows from the early days were wiped and lost forever like the first decade of The Tonight Show). I vaguely remembered watching this episode when I was about ten years old. I remember the scene where Jack and his wife Mary keep walking up and down a long flight of steps and where Jack has imaginary conversations with his ego. The most amazing thing about this episode is it features an early appearance by none other then Sean Connery! Five years before the first Bond movie he has a small part as an Italian accented tour guide who meets Jack and Mary when they arrive in Rome!
