This Laramie story starts out with Slim Sherman and Jess Harper trailing a
rustler who has been stealing steers one at a time for a while. But he does
pay his own way leaving a $10.00 gold piece at the site of the theft. They
think they have him trapped in a box canyon. But he's got a hiding place few
can get to.
The thief is Karl Swenson and his wife Geraldine Brooks and their kids. He's from Switzerland and used to living in the mountains. He's got himself a nice cave high up and few can get to it.
Which is good because he has a corrupt sheriff played by Dewey Martin behind him. Martin's father stole Swenson's ranch and Swenson killed him in self defense. Martin has a posse that includs Lee Van Cleef and if Swenson is brought in across a saddle that's all right by him.
Swenson gets John Smith and Robert Fuller as allies to his cause. As this is a Laramie episode that makes all the difference.
Nice performances by regulars and guest cast.
