Territorial Dispute
kapelusznik1817 November 2014
***SPOILERS*** The usually straight laced and by the books Let. Det. Frank Ballinger, Lee Marvin, is forced to use underhanded tactics to brake up a territorial dispute between two mob factions who supply protection to Chicago's supper & night clubs. It's when the Bongo Club owner Molly Patrick, Sylvia Stone, refused to give into mobster Troy Jordan's, Murvyn Vye, demands to buy his cheap booze at top rate prices that her supper club was shot up by Jordan's mobster in order to teach her a lesson. It turned out that Jordan used his rival's mob boss Packy Edwards, Kem Dibbs, girl friend Marla Ross, Joan O'Brian, to set up the hit on Mrs. Patrick's joint.

Ballinger comes up with this plan to get both Edwards & Jordan to think that the arrested Marla is working undercover for the Chicago PD making her a marked woman if she's ever let out of police custody. Having no choice but to go along with Ballinger and the Chicago police Marla is forced to set up both Edwards and Jordan in order to save her, and it's a very impressive one, behind.

****SPOILERS**** One of the most violent of the M Squad episodes has among other things Ballinger in a knock down drag out slug fest with Edwards who at first thought, with Ballinger not identifying himself as a policeman, he was a member of the Jordan mob. It's later that Ballinger and the Chicago police shoot it out with both Edwards & Jordan after they captured Marla and were about to do her in for setting them up. It was Marla as well as Ballinger who miraculously came out unhurt from the wild shoot-out in Jordan's office which you can't say for either him and fellow mob boss Edwards.
