Whatever Happened to Monte Markham?
Hitchcoc31 January 2017
This is another episode where Mary must deal with a guy who won't leave her alone. This time it's a guy named Corcoran who is one of those Vietnam embedded reporters. He is well known for his exploits. He's also really attractive to the fair sex. Mary is quite enamored with him until she finds out that he is married. He is using the newsroom to write a story, and that pushes Mary out with no place to work. The guy just keeps pursuing and she keeps deflecting. Anyway, thanks to Lou, who has known the guy for a long time, three are some obstructions put in the path. The scene at Murray's place is a little bit uncomfortable. But there are times when Mary can handle herself.

He's handsome, he's charming and he's famous....and still married!

John Corcoran (Monte Marcum) is a world famous news correspondent and used to work for WJM News long ago. Since then, he's gone to work for the network and is in town to visit Lou. But his attentions soon turn to Mary, as he thinks she's a hot tamale. Mary is also smitten...until she realizes he's a married man. He says they are separated...but apparently he tells all the women that! How is Mary to handle this?

This is an enjoyable episode but it's also practically joke-free. Still, it's worth seeing but is a bit of a disappointment because of the few laughs. Its biggest strength is Lou...whose protectiveness for Mary is touching.

Another annoying guy
Rrrobert2 July 2019
Mary is attracted to Corcoran (Monte Markham), an old friend of Lou's - until she learns he is married. After that she tries to dissuade him, but he keeps pursuing her.

Too bad that Corcoran is pretty annoying, not very attractive, and doesn't really get any comedy going. Too many familiar elements (Lou is wise to what's going on, Murray is blinded by being in total awe of Corcoran, and Ted oblivious to the truth) and far too few jokes, make for a weak, plodding episode. Even the usually funny Rhoda doesn't seem too interested in events here.

Too much of a repeat this soon after episode "He's All Yours".
