A sober Walter turns out to be a happy Walter we find out when he wakes up and discovers that he wants to celebrate a new holiday that he calls "I love you Day". After greating Florida with pats and pokes on both cheeks, he announces his mood to the entire family and Maude is thrilled by this because she thinks it's going to be a day of romance. But the recently divorced Vivian shows up to put a damper on it and Maude and Walter end up in an argument which has him storming out to go to the gym. It's only with Vivian's help that everything is resolved, and it's also the first time that a Vivian and Arthur pairing is insinuated.
What starts off as a potentially grade episode slowly sinks with bizarre plot twists that makes this melodramatic and problematic. Vivian insinuates that Maude is contemplating suicide with some sort of red pill, and this manipulates Walter to run home. I was also rather taken aback by his patting Florida's fanny, especially that she finds it acceptable from an employer. The cameo by "Laugh-In" comic Johnny Brown is the episode's highlight with his sunny personality stealing the moment from Esther Roller.
