It is Jake's birthday and Sandy throws him a surprise party. He is also surprised by his mother who comes over and wants to stay with him which he later declines. Billy is robbed by some black guys and upsets Rhonda who feels he is prejudiced. She shows him around and changes his mind but he still finds the guy who robbed him.
I didn't get right away what Rhonda felt was racist about Billy talking about "those people" because I felt he talked about criminals and the neighborhood who was already described before as a dangerous one. But regardless they touched a nice point of prejudice and how it needs to be avoided. At our time Rhonda would be considered racist too for being "colorblind". At least she made Billy go identify the criminal because it would be a crazy idea of "anti racism".
Jake meeting his mother was also a good story. Sandy was really great in being there for him. Anita Morris was great for that part. Sadly she died only two years later, and she still looked so young and good in this episode.
