So far the season was struggling. I could even go as far as saying, it was a borefest. Jane clearly had nothing to do in the show anymore, and her drama was dragging it down. So once she left, things got exciting again. Jake and Alison found complications in their search for happiness. Michael was torn between Megan and dying Kimberly. Taylor and Peter started their affair. Amanda became sympathetic. And Sidney was getting more life lessons. It was the show finally back on track. I'm not sure why « Catch Her in the Lie » is rated so low, but I thought it was a very good episode. I always tend to forget somehow. Jake reaching out to his ex (played by a different actress) and his son, was a good way to redeem how of a bully he became lately. Which helped Billy and Alison get closer, and reflect on their past relationship. True, Samantha is the one left behind, but she can be such a doormat... Matt on the other hand, finally stops being one, or a drama queen even. And is back to being the confident and helper of the group. When he helped Megan cope with Michael's betrayal. Michael who seems to have really grown up this season, gave Peter more time to let loose. He's the one acting recklessly this season, and I must admit, I find it very entertaining. I love the sick love affair between him and Taylor, and how the stakes are raised each time. The way the episode ends, with Kimberly being in remission, could be another jump the shark moment. But between this, and Craig's request, it makes upcoming stories too juicy to give it the cold shoulder.
