***SPOILERS*** While undergoing minor surgery at Heartland Hospital Ford Curtis emits a strange and deadly odor out of his body that ends up killing the entire staff of doctors and attendants, including himself, operating on him. With nothing to go on but hot air or body odor being the reason for this tragedy the police just drop the matter having Curtis's daughter Haley,Leslie Horan, go to see private eye Mike Hammer, Stacey Keach, to solve this very bizarre and smelly case.

Hammer right away smells a rat in Ford Curtis's death with a number of people connected to the operation including Dr. Considine,Alec Murdock, and the leggy head nurse Lucy Caitlin, Cassie Branham, ending up murdered to keep them from talking about what they smelled about Curtis' sudden and unexpected death. Even Hammer is almost murdered by this thug, Bobby Johnson, who in fact gave himself away, while hiding in Hammer's office, with a foul smell of cheap two cents a bottle after shave lotion that tipped Hammer off and, by knocking the thug out of his office window, ended up saving his life.

***SPOILERS*** It soon became evident to Hammer the a member of the hospital staff was involved in selling lethal gas that he had secretly developed at the hospital, which is a weapon of mass destruction, to sell to anyone friend or foe willing to pay for it. As well as killing anyone who has a clue to what he's doing like the late Dr.Considine & nurse Caitlin! As the smell of the gas was about to reach high heaven in being sold to the wrong people, international terrorists, Hammer went into action and put an end to this awful smell and the person behind it before it-the gas-got into the wrong hands.
