Andy Has Been Escalating
Hitchcoc18 August 2021
Dennis Franz can do a slow burn better than anyone. Here, a basketball game in front of neighborhood, in honor of a kid who died in police custody, turns into a bloodbath. A black neighborhood leader name Kwazi comes at Andy. The N word is used and Andy uses it back. Much of the episode involves his rants, claiming he is not racist (which he is, of course). Unfortunately, this leaves poor Arthur Fancy holding the bag. He has stayed with Sipowicz for years and Andy throws his color in his face. I guess some see Andy as a victim--I don't. Still, the acting is superb.

Sipowitz Steals the Show
wmrdbull19 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is perhaps one of the best episodes of NYPD Blue. In this episode, Sipowitz's racism becomes a serious problem in the investigation of a multiple homicide at a neighborhood basketball game in honor of a youth who died in police custody. His encounter with the game's organizer raise hell after he calls the organizer the "N-word". If this episode was made today, Sipowitz would be cartoonishly villifed, but instead we are made to feel sympathetic towards him after he made the mistake of engaging with the organizer. Another great episode of a great tv show.
