Partridges are victims of a con
stevenfallonnyc7725 July 2023
En route to vacation, the Partridge Family's bus breaks down and they end up among some Indians, and are conned by them and some palefaces into playing a charity show.

The people in town who take the Partridges in and promise to fix their bus keep coming up with excuses why the bus can't be fixed in order to get the family to perform the show.

Some stuff here that would never fly today, such as the Indian's getups, Reuben referring to them as "savages," and heck even the very word "Indian" make this a very non-PC episode. It's not a very good one, there are much better Partridge Family episodes, but good enough for one viewing. And isn't Laurie so beautiful!

Harry Morgan and Josephine Hutchinson

"All's War in Love and Fairs" has the family bus breaking down in a desert locale near the reservation of the Papago Indians, who need the proceeds from their local fair to build a new school. Previously seen in "The Sound of Money," Harry Morgan, as the alleged mechanic, conducts a more amiable con, assisted by wife Josephine Hutchinson, familiar with Universal buffs for "The Crime of Doctor Hallet" and "Son of Frankenstein." Reuben Kincaid in war paint is a sight to see, and one would think that "Morning Rider on the Road" (B-side of "I'll Meet You Halfway") would be the perfect song to match the subject matter, but perhaps because it mentions 'the blue Montana skies,' it failed to qualify. What we hear is "Come On Love," composed by Terry Cashman and T. P. West, the first track taken from the Mar 1973 release of seventh LP CROSSWORD PUZZLE, the last album to feature on the Billboard album charts, peaking at 167 (the only one except 1971's CHRISTMAS CARD without any singles).
