Good Ending To DVD Set
ccthemovieman-18 August 2006
An elderly man, whose days are numbered due to heart problems, contacts Gunn. The old man was almost killed the night before by something that was made to look like an accident. He shows Gunn a threatening note from his nephew who was just released from jail and has a vendetta of sorts against his uncle (the elderly man).

While asking questions about the nephew (who is a guitar player) at Mother's, Pete gets a call from the man who tells him "I am going to shoot the old man whether you try to stop me or else...and I'm then going to shoot myself."

Gunn rushes over the old man's house, hears shots, runs in and sees the old man dead. Suspects include not only the nephew but the three people who lived in the house: the male secretary, the nurse and the butler.

The ending scene has perhaps the most intense fight between Gunn and an adversary than was seen all season. A dramatic and fitting ending to the first season, at least the 32 episodes available on DVD. The last six episodes of season one were not included, for some, reason on Vols 1 and 2.

Old Weapons, Greed, Frame-Up Poorly Done

Warning: Spoilers
Review - The Family Affair Old Weapons, Greed, Frame-Up Poorly Done Above average crime-solving by our PI with help from Emmett, a chanteuse photographer and the prime suspect, off-camera and dead. Worth watching for the intrigue brought through the artifact filled den of the large dark house, with a formally dressed butler and uniformed private nurse. Well written as the cast fitted the plot, not too many characters to spoil the story. No clues to bring Pete on the outside looking into the crime when the suspects were all in sight, almost. The indoor scenes were poorly lit for the effect, but the guest cast members were perfectly placed in their respected roles. Good to see Hewitt, Hoyt and Wyllie. Emmett had lines, too, for a change.
