Officers DeHart and Ward (Howard Duff and Bernie Casey) are in a real serious slump. Through no mistakes on their part, they STILL keep losing suspects and look like fools. Clearly, their luck is just running poor for a while. But what makes it worse is that two guys from the same unit are suddenly leading charmed lives on the job. Again and again, things just keep dropping into their laps and they are the darlings of the unit!
The main case the unit is working on is a psychopath who is beating elderly women to death. He pretends to befriend them and help them carry their groceries home...and then attacks them. So far, of 9 victims, only 3 have survived and there aren't many leads...and again and again, DeHart and Ward look like idiots...especially when they see someone with the same m.o. And try to arrest him...only to learn that he's NOT the guy...and is a city councilman! Oops.
Old people being killed isn't funny. But so many little things are...and you just have to see this one to see what terrible luck the two detectives have. Well worth seeing.
