The Protectors are in Rome and keeping an eye on a prominent Senator (Leonard Sachs) who is investigating organised crime in the city.
The kingpin is known as The Owl. However the Senator disappears right under their noses. Later he is found with incriminating photos.
Harry Rule and the Contessa are led blind alleys. Max Toller (James Bolam) another investigator has to come to Harry's assistant.
While the Contessa finds herself in peril several times, not realising that The Owl was not too far away as they can see in the dark.
Good use of some Rome locations, but even at 30 minutes there is some lackadaisical pacing. I thought the climax was slightly camp.
Worth looking out for Tony Haygarth and Roger Lloyd Pack.
