Quotes
-
Rowdy Yates : I ain't seen a cow yet that was worth a man's life.
-
Morris G. Stevens : I'm a philologist, I, ah, study languages.
Rowdy Yates : What kind of languages?
Morris G. Stevens : Indian, Pueblo, Comanche. You know you would never believe this, it's fantastic, but did you know there are no Comanche dictionaries?
Mushy : Well, I'll be.
Morris G. Stevens : So I came out here to compile one.
Wishbone : What for?
Morris G. Stevens : Oh, so people could communicate with the tribesmen.
Gil Favor : Mr Stevens, if you open your mouth to speak to a Comanche, you'd have your throat slit before you got two words out.
Morris G. Stevens : Well, maybe not, if they understood the words. I think it's important for people to understand people.
Wishbone : Well, I think you oughta practise what you preach.
-
Morris G. Stevens : I can tell you positively, Mr Yates, there is no worse torture for a man than to have contempt for his own role in life. I can tell you it's a problem that can be very easily solved. I know because I solved mine.
Rowdy Yates : You had problems?
Morris G. Stevens : Well, you know Cyrano de Bergerac?
Rowdy Yates : Oh, yeah, yeah. He's a stubby, little fellow. He used to be head wrangler at the Clare Miguel ranch?
-
Rowdy Yates : You know what I always wanted to do?
Morris G. Stevens : What?
Rowdy Yates : I always wanted to be a surveyor.
Morris G. Stevens : Wonderful!
Rowdy Yates : I wanted to survey new trails, the new countries, the best trails.
Morris G. Stevens : The H trails?
Rowdy Yates : Yeah, maybe. I always had a little feeling towards pathfinding. I could scout out a path like a dowser scouts out water.
Morris G. Stevens : Well, won't you do it?
