The scary bedtime story
Jimmy_the_Gent420 October 2018
A hilarious first season episode. Harold Ramis begins the show telling us SCTV does not agree with sexual content but loves violence.

Extreme Close Up is a talk show which is exactly that. Close ups of eyes and mouths of Dave Thomas and Moe Green.

Dining with Johnny LaRue has him at an Italian restaurant that turns into a spoof of the restaurant killing scene in The Godfather. Ramis plays a nervous waiter who wants LaRue to stop ordering meals and get out.

Dave Thomas has a funny commercial of lame practical jokes which needs no intelligence or skill.

A very funny game show sketch is The Wacky World Of Poverty, Eugene Levy is the host and Joe Flaherty plays a guy who has to do embarrassing and dangerous stunts to win money. Other guests are Andrea Martin as a woman getting money for every hole in her sweater, Dave as a drunk winning for having a bottle of booze in a brown paper bag and Candy as a guy in overalls searching a garbage can for a prize.

Lin Ye Tang is a scientist to claims to have a robot but it is just a huge block of wood.

A Sergio Leone parody is A Fistful Of Ugly with Ramis in the Clint Eastwood role, he challenges a Mexican bandit (Candy) to a gunfight but they can't agree on the time.

The hilarious Shock Theater sketch is Flaherty telling a scary story to his son but he doesn't like them. After The Tell Tale Heart and The Girl Who Wouldn't Wash Her Face (Catherine O'Hara gets pimples, he finally comes up with a story about an army of rats which literally scares the kid to death.

The last sketch is Margo Fontaine (Andrea) dancing ballet while a knife thrower uses her for his target, the credits roll.
