The Mayor needs the retiring Senator's endorsement.

As the Mayor is running for Senate, he is disappointed that he has not received the endorsement of the retiring sitting Senator, Joseph Grady. With Senator Grady visiting City Hall, this will be a good time for Catlin and Mike to get the Mayor to invite the Senator for Thanksgiving at his home. They feel like they will surely get the endorsement if Senator Grady can view the Mayor and staff having a weekend dinner.

Senator Grady's wife had died a few months ago and he is sentimental about the holiday. When he sees Catlin and Mike, he believes that they are a couple just like his life when younger. Catlin and Mike will keep up the charade in order to receive Grady's endorsement.

Also in the episode, we get to welcome back Stuart's sex craze girlfriend, Deidre. Needless to say her appetite for the deviate has not slowed as Stuart and her are all over each other. But when Deidre corrects Carter's language skills. she brags that she is smarter than Carter. She just might have to play a game of strip chess to prove her point.

As always, the story with Deidre is by far the best thing in the script. Beth Littleford always makes the character so interesting that she steals any scene she occupies. The Senator story was the main plot of the episode and inched Mike and Catlin relationship closer. There was some nice playful scene during the story and was actually quite entertaining.

There is also a few more smaller side-stories that seemed like fillers. But the fillers just added to the nice compact feeling of the show. An entertaining well-rounded episode.
