David Bamber guest stars, and before too long he became a breakout star with regular appearances in TV series. I enjoyed watching A Very Peculiar Practice when it was first released all those years ago, and in fact this episode debuted 35 years ago, yet it's so timeless as it speaks to the perils of university corporatization. All university presidents should watch A Very Peculiar Practice.
I think A Very Peculiar Practice could have easily run for three or more seasons. Takashi Kawahara, who was pivotal as Chen Sung Yau, a confidant of Dr Stephen Daker (Peter "Dr Who" Davison) starred in series one but unfortunately wasn't brought back for series two.
