Lovely Carolyn Kearney in the title role steals this Wagon Train story from the
rest of the cast. She must have read the classic play Peg O' My Heart about an
Irish servant girl to prepare for this role. I can imagine someone like Laurette
Taylor doing this one on stage.
She's a servant girl to married couple Byron Foulger and Dorothy Adams traveling west and she nurses them both when they come down with typhoid fever. She's seen a lot of that disease as her parents and siblings died from it.
She also gets to fall in love with widower Arthur Franz who is immune having survived it during the Civil War. But his kids aren't and one of them comes down with it also.
If you don't fall in love with Kearney in this role you have a heart of stone. She really is quite infectious in her performance pardon the pun.
