Hanford Family Values

Tom Tryon has come home from New Orleans to his father's large Indian trading post and finds that his mother has gone back to her Cheyenne people. Further he learns that she's now dead.

Father Onslow Stevens has decided in his old age to take a trophy wife and she's arriving on Ward Bond's Wagon Train. Tryon goes out to meet the Wagon Train and he takes Kathleen Crowley who Stevens got from a New Orleans fancy establishment to the Cheyenne village.

All this Hanford family soap opera is all well and good except that it might spark an Indian war. Robert Horton tries his hand at diplomacy. In the end it's the Hanfords who settle it themselves.

One of the sillier episodes I ever saw on Wagon Train.

Weak Unrealistic Story Line

Warning: Spoilers
The idea that a saloon girl from the St. Louis area would reject marriage to an older rich man for his younger son who has suddenly decided to follow his Indian ways is idiotic.

I like Wagon Train and currently watch it on the INSPHD channel and it normally has strong scripts but this one somehow slipped by the executives for the show.

It attempts to marry 1860 values with 1950 values and it fails on all points.
