Great acting plays well in this episode.

James Whitmore plays Ben Kincaid where he seems to be a respected guy in the town of Chloride. He is a likable guy that helps out when trouble arises. People in the town look up to Ben and think he is good for the town. There is also a Marshall, Cam Tolby, that is new to the town. He does not have the respect of the townsfolk as he always seems to be a step behind when trouble happens.

When the Marshal gets a wanted poster claiming that Ben Kincaid is wanted for murder, the good Marshal has nothing else to do but arrest Ben and take him to court. But before they set off for court, a run-away wagon that just so happens to be load with nitroglycerin heads full speed toward the town's schoolhouse. And of course it is handcuffed Ben Kincaid that happens to stop the wagon from killing the unsuspecting children.

Now the townsfolk want the Marshall to set Ben free. They do not care about the murder but about letting Ben escape. They find a way to free Ben in hope of giving him a chance to run from the law. But, Ben has ideas of staying in the town of Chloride.

An enjoyable story that entertaining to the very end. Steve Cohan does a nice job of playing the mild-mattered Marshal that the town feels he does not have the best interest of people in mind. Also James Whitmore always does a nice job at whatever role he is cast. A nice watch for any viewer.

Great episode

I dream that every episode of this series was the same, with unexpected endings such as the one we have here. The Jim Withmore's character is so moving, so excellent, the kind of hero I have always craved for. An anti hero actually, who walks on aht eroad of perdition, of his own doom. One of the best so far in the series. There are not so many, unfortunately. I'll continue to watch out and will tell you.
