Guess who's comin' ?

First, let me say that maybe there will be two comments from me for this episode, because I am not sure that I have not written about it years ago; and as far as Imdb doesn't let comments appear for many titles, this will explain that. This is a pretty interesting tale this one speaking of racial and social differences between a Black couple and a white one. Stan Kramer gave us GUESS WHO IS COMING FOR DINNER only one year later, but there are some points in common between the two stories, and for obvious reasons. Late sixties were the crucial era concerning racial problems. In this episode, you have only talks and talks in a living room, but it's worth watching. A very good social and character study, brillantly done in the most clever way. Some accents in this one hour story, could preview DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

Warning: Spoilers
Among all the Armchair Episodes I have to see, there are some that are really boring. These episodes, so rare to catch, are very talkative, and shot on nearly one set for most of them. No action sequences, few characters, and sometimes stories not interesting at all. But the study of those same characters may be, from time to time, rewarding for the careful watcher.

Like this one. The tale of a white man and his wife, who live in a beautiful house, in a quiet white neighbourhood, and who decide to sell their house. So they invite the two people who would be interested to buy the estate. And, they find out that those people are black...

That's where this episode becomes very exquisite to watch. So delightful. You think of course of Stanley Kramer's GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER. A pure thinking about intolerance, racism and, among all, hypocrisy. It's some kind of filmed theatre, but really worthwhile.
